Human trafficking In Our Community? Seriously?? Sadly THIS IS TRUE. Whether for sexual exploitation of young girls and boys, or forced labor in construction, restaurants, hotels or cleaning services – many of the people we see in our community are Not Free to leave. Young men and woman are often housed in inhumane conditions, then sent out to “make money” and return to overcrowded housing day after day. Even in our community, young girls and boys with unstable family situations can be recruited into sexual slavery or physical labor for very little money, all with the “promise” of making money to help families in other countries. OR, to work their way out of a “contract” to achieve their freedom. The Clearwater Friends Meeting (Quakers) and Faith United Church of Christ invite you to a FORUM of four local experts who will outline the scope of the Human Trafficking problem in Pinellas/Pasco countiesYou are invited to join the conversation on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 22nd , with registration at starting at 11:00am, followed by lunch at 11:30 so participants can get to know one another before the FORUM begins at 12:30.
