Mission Ministries

We also believe that we are called to reach out to those who need immediate assistance as the Good Samaritan did when he saw the victim lying at the side of the road. We call that our mission work. Here is what we do:

Wimauma Farm Workers—is a mission serving the needs of farm workers in the Wimauma area. We serve these folks through gifts of computers, food, clothing, a baby shower once a year, sleeping bags in the winter, etc.

Christmas Party for Preschool kids—our kids often come from financially challenges families and every year we have a marvelous Christmas Party with Santa, gifts for the kids, gifts the kids can purchase for Mom (at a penny each—and pennies are provided), moon walks, pictures with Santa, and a petting zoo. Pizza is free for all and its always a day of unbelievable fun—mostly for those who serve. O yes, the kids have a great time too!

CROP Walk—is an annual event we participate in which members sponsor our walkers and the whole church collects peanut butter. The proceeds go to those who struggle to make ends meet

Woza Africa—is a mission in South Africa in which we have helped send a container of clothing, computers, and every imaginary item you can use in a home. We also support this mission financially and our pastor has visited and been honored by Woza for the role Faith UCC has played in its life.

Religious Community Services (RCS)—is a local Clearwater organization (ecumenical and interfaith) that supports the poor and vulnerable in our area through a food bank, transitional housing, housing for abused women and more. We support them financially or by scheduling workdays to refurbish and repaint apartments once vacated by families so the next family will have a beautiful place to move into. http://www.rcspinellas.org/

“Philippines (Frank’s Bull)—Frank and Kathy Glenn, retired missionaries to the Philippines, have inspired us to buy a water buffalo (carabao) for a village every year. We call the buffalo Franks Bull (even when it’s a cow).”

Philippine Student Sponsor Program—members of Faith UCC sponsor students from remote rural villages who have the ability to escape the circle of poverty and receive university education.

WOW (Women on the Way) is a program at our neighbors (St. Pete College) that supports women who wish to become educated so they can become financially independent. Many of these women have gone on to become stellar citizens and even scholars finding the support WOW offered them to be they break they needed to escape their circumstances. http://www.spjc.edu/webcentral/resource/wow.htm
